Before its renovation, our duplex was quite dated. Frozen in the 1960s, the house was full of potential and ready for a new chapter. We renovated the duplex from top to bottom; inside and out. Now, it’s a fresh story; a beautiful vacation home for guests to rest and recharge before heading to Mystic Aquarium, Mystic Seaport or nearby downtown.

Outside, we created spaces to relax. There are porches and patios for morning coffee and sunset cocktails. Inside, the kitchen opens to the living room. Swivel chairs and flexible seating arrangements make conversations flow. We designed everything for comfort and connection.

We chose top-quality mattresses and bedding for a good night’s sleep. The bathrooms have new tile, modern fixtures, and bright lights. This rental in Mystic has everything you need to recharge for the next adventure.

2. Quiet Escape from Nearby Mystic Attractions

Our little corner of Mystic reminds me of the Dick and Jane picture books. Quaint homes line the street, proudly showing their unique character. Neighbors wave from porches as families and couples walk the streets. You can hear church bells ringing in the distance. It’s the kind of neighborhood that invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and enjoy the moment.

The vacation home is close to downtown. The duplex sits high on a hill. A 13-minute walk will get you to the heart of downtown at the famous drawbridge. An 11-minute walk will bring you to Mystic Seaport.

We love the hill. It deters traffic. And it keeps us in shape after a night of good eating!

3. The “Wow” Factor Before You Even Walk Inside

What is your favorite feature in a vacation home? For my husband, Keith, it’s the landscape. It’s important to Keith that guests spend time relaxing in a beautiful setting. The Kentucky bluegrass sod is well taken care of. Mo, the robotic lawnmower, maintains the grass. She quietly cuts the lawn everyday by running back and forth. Kids have a lot of fun watching her work. If Mo gets in the way, she gets sent to her charging station for a time out.

4. “Squeaky Clean and Well Maintained”

Many guests comment on the clean apartments. Our cleaning and maintenance crew do a spectacular job getting everything ready for guests. Before each guest arrives, I walk through the apartment to make sure the place is well stocked with coffee pods, paper goods, laundry detergent and toilietries. Everything you need for a comfortable stay.
